Afghan refugees have been resettled at Fort Pickett in Blackstone, VA with little notice to the facility. As most of you know from watching the news, most of the Afghanis left their homeland with little more than the clothes on their backs.
St. Patrick’s has always been an exceptionally generous parish. Fr. Štefan and the Justice & Peace Committee are asking each and every one of you to find it in your hearts to help out these newly arrived immigrants.
They are now in need of many of the items listed below:
Support Afghani Refugees
Pampers, Children’s and adults winter coats (new), Baby wipes, Toys, Balls for Sports (soccer, basketball, etc.), Clothes (only new), and Toiletries.
It is not yet known if they will remain at Fort Pickett or be settled elsewhere, but we do know they are in need and winter is fast approaching. A large box, similar to the Toys for Tots box, will be set up in the Narthex of the church for your donations. We will collect items until Wednesday, Sept. 29.
