'The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.'
The Eucharist is the efficacious sign and sublime cause of that communion in the divine life and that unity of the People of God by which the Church is kept in being. It is the culmination both of God's action sanctifying the world in Christ and of the worship men offer to Christ and through him to the Father in the Holy Spirit.'" CCC 1324-1325
Holy Communion
Children prepare to make their first confession and First Holy Communion within the Second Grade Sunday Religious Education course from the Ignatius Press series, “Faith and Life,” supplemented by two special sessions, which they attend with their parents, Catechist, the Director of Religious Education, and the Pastor. This preparation is for children, who have turned or soon will turn age 7, the “age of reason.”
Students must have attended at least First Grade Religious Education, if not the Kindergarten class, as well. Children over the “age of reason,” who have not yet made their first confession or First Holy Communion are tutored in a special section of the RCIA program, as they also attend Sunday classes for their appropriate age and grade level.
First Eucharist is celebrated on the Sunday after Mother’s Day in May at the 10:30 a.m. Mass. First Confessions are heard on a date prior to First Eucharist, as designated by the pastor.
